Robert Lewandowski has undoubtedly been the best player for the past couple of seasons, and there is no way anybody can deny his consistency in performances and what he is capable of in every match. Unfortunately, it might be more or less a shame that he played in the same era as Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi, at least, that’s what the Dutch and AC Milan legend, Ruud Gullit thinks.
In a recent interview with ‘BILD’, the Ballon d’Or winner speaks in awe of the Polish striker, who was just crowned FIFA Men’s Best Player on 17th January. Having played with the likes of Marco van Basten at AC Milan and Netherlands, Gullit surely is a huge admirer of Lewandowski
“He can do it all!”
“I love him as a player, he can do it all”, he told BILD, and is surprised that he didn’t win the Ballon d’Or, “I also believed that he would win the Ballon d’Or. It was a surprise that it didn’t happen that way”
Gullit also sympathizes with Lewandowski when it comes to the appreciation of the striker worldwide: “It is very unfortunate that he plays in the same era as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi”, he claims, and feels Lewandowski doesn’t receive enough recognition, “He is not as valued around the world as the other two. It’s a pity.”
