Durham sign Venezuelan international forward Speckmaier

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Wildcats this morning.
The 27-year-old moves to Maiden Castle from Ninja A-League club Melbourne City. Durham have paid an undisclosed fee to secure her services. Speckmaier joined Melbourne City in 2024 and she went on to net 11 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions in City blue.
Since completing her college career in the United States, Speckmaier has enjoyed two spells with Washington Spirit while she has also turned out for CSKA Moscow, Valur, Wellington Pheonix and latest club Melbourne City. She was an NWSL Championship winner with Washington Spirit in 2021.
On the international stage, Speckmaier has been capped by Venezuela on 13 occasions while she has three goals to her name.
After joining Durham, Speckmaier said “I’m super-excited to get started. I think every player at one point has a dream of playing in England, so I’m glad that I get to do that.
“I’m a fast, aggressive player and I’m physical when I want to be. I like to take one-on-ones and shoot at goal when I can, I’m aggressive.
“It’s clear that the ambition is to get promoted [here].”
Speckmaier is Durham’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
