The Celtic squad will be back at Lennoxtown tomorrow morning after enjoying their night on Sunday at the cup winners party Celtic Park then a few days break. But it will be back to business with Brendan Rodgers aiming to see out a successful 2024 – where all three major honours in the Scottish game have been won by his side – with three remaining victories before we start 2025 with a trip to Ibrox.

Celtic’s Boxing Day Home Comforts

After the match away to Dundee United on Sunday Celtic have two home matches, on Boxing Day against Motherwell then on 29 December against St Johnstone. This incidentally is our second Boxing Day in a row at home after Brendan called out the SPFL for sending us on the road for six consecutive seasons.

Brendan will be looking for maximum points in these three matches with the game at Tannadice perhaps being the toughest of the three.

Scottish FA announce match officials

Today the Scottish FA confirmed the match officials for the Dundee United versus Celtic match. David Davidson has the whistle and he will be assisted by Calum Spence and Craig Ferguson. Gavin Duncan will be heading up the VAR operation and he will be assisted by Andrew McWilliam.

With a heavy fixture list in January there’s a little window here for more recovery and perhaps some additional work on the training ground at Lennoxtown, which is impossible with the three games a week schedule the team has been on.

Celtic will play NINE matches in January

In January Celtic have NINE matches to play – six in the Scottish Premiership, two in the Champions League and one in the Scottish Cup. Five games are at Celtic Park and four away from home at Ibrox, up in Dingwall, Dens Park and Villa Park.

The squad will have to be utilised to the full in this period with perhaps a few new arrivals coming in to help carry the load.

First up is Tannadice where we can expect to see a refreshed Celtic side after no midweek action. The players should enjoy that while they can.
