Douglas Luiz did not show up for the first day of Juventus’ pre-season this morning, and according to reports, it was an unauthorised absence.

Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz did not arrive at the Juventus training centre, Continassa, this morning on the first day of pre-season.

According to Gazzetta and other Italian media, his absence was not authorised by the club.

It seems clear that Douglas Luiz is forcing a move away from Turin after failing to justify his €50m price tag in his first season at the Allianz Stadium.

Tuttosport newspaper previously reported that the Brazilian’s agent was due to meet Premier League clubs interested in his client this week.

Several English clubs have been linked with the former Aston Villa star, including West Ham, Everton, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Liverpool and Manchester United.

However, according to Gazzetta, Juventus aim for a sale for at least €40m to avoid a capital loss and haven’t received adequate offers so far this summer.
