Borussia Dortmund clinched their Champions League place for next season with a routine win over Mainz on Sunday evening.

Scorers: Quaison pen 90′; Guerreiro 23′, Reus 42′, Brandt 80′

The newly-crowned DFB Pokal winners kept their momentum going midway through the first half when the excellent Raphaël Guerreiro curled into the corner from the edge of the area.

The hero of Thursday’s big cup win, captain Marco Reus, got in on the act by making up for not getting the goal he deserved in that one as he tapped home from Jadon Sancho’s second assist of the evening.

And Dortmund wrapped up the win and their top four place with 10 minutes remaining when Julian Brandt rounded the goalkeeper before finding the net, making Robin Quaison’s late penalty little more than a consolation.

The win means BVB are now uncatchable in fourth after rivals and already relegated Schalke did them a huge favour with a shock win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
