Various members of the Liverpool first team squad – inspired by captain Jordan Henderson – have confirmed that they are against the recent formation of the Super League.

Liverpool announced their position as ‘founding members’ for the controversial breakaway project on Sunday night, leading to significant backlash from fans and media outlets alike.

The side were hounded by Leeds fans on the way to Elland Road on Monday night ahead of their 1-1 draw, with manager Jürgen Klopp made to face the cameras amid silence from their boardroom hierarchy.

But Henderson has now posted an image on social media condemning the project, with players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, James Milner and Virgil van Dijk also doing so.

“We don’t like it and we don’t want it to happen,” read the image.

“This is our collective position. Our commitment to this football club and its supporters is absolute and unconditional.

Chelsea and Manchester City have since planned to withdraw from Super League plans, with Atlético Madrid and Barcelona reportedly eager to follow.
