ARLINGTON, Texas – The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup continued with the Dominican Republic and Suriname playing to a scoreless draw in Group A on Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA.

Both nations ended their participation in the 2025 edition with a draw after losing their two opening encounters.

Edgar Pujol was sent off in the 30’, leaving the Dominican Republic with ten men for the remainder of the match.

Suriname tried to get on the board in the 31’, with Kenneth Paal serving the ball to the center of the penalty area off a free kick to find Richonell Margaret, but Xavier Valdez was there to make the stop.

Valdez was again the hero for the Dominican Republic in the 36’, denying a header from Gleofilo Vlijter.

Margaret had a right-footed attempt in the 81’ but Valdez kept the match scoreless.

Peter González had the last chance for the Dominican Republic, shooting a left-footed strike from outside the box in the 90’+1’, but Suriname goalkeeper Warner Hahn blocked the attempt to preserve the clean sheet.

Valdez ended the match with five saves and collected his first clean sheet in the Gold Cup. The Dominican Republic ended its debut campaign with a 0-1-2 record and third place in Group A.

Suriname also exits the tournament with a 0-1-2 record as fourth in the group on goal difference.
