Santi Aouna is reporting that former AS Monaco right-back Djibril Sidibé (30) is set for a medical at Greek side AEK Athens on Wednesday.
Sidibé is a free agent following the expiration of his contract at AS Monaco. The former World Cup winner had been a fixture for Monaco across multiple seasons, including under Niko Kovac at the beginning of last season. However, the winter arrival of Vanderson (21) and the good form of Ruben Aguilar (29) relegated him to third choice during Philippe Clement’s reign.
Since his departure from the Principality club, he has been linked with various clubs, including newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest. According to Aouna, Sidibé even reached an agreement with the English club, although a move was never finalised.
He now looks set for a move to Greece with a medical with the club scheduled for Wednesday before signing on a free transfer.
