Diogo Dalot has highlighted Scott McTominay as a player who sets an example for his Manchester United teammates due to his "mentality".

McTominay came off the bench to score a vital late winner for Man Utd in Sunday's win over Aston Villa in the Premier League - heading home a Dalot cross in the 86th minute to make it 2-1.

It was the seventh goal that the Scotland international has scored for the Red Devils in 21 appearances thus far this season, with his goals contributing to wins over Brentford, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Speaking the press about McTominay's impact, Dalot hailed the midfielder's determination to impact games as something the United squad could learn from.

"I think every time he comes on the pitch, he has that mentality of trying to score goals and trying to help the team," said Dalot.

"We need this type of mentality at this club, and I think he is the perfect person to show this season that even coming from the bench, he always has a good impact."

McTominay himself also spoke after the game about his goal, insisting that he is keen to help the team in any way he can, be that from the start or from the off the bench.

"I just feel as long as I’m fit and healthy to come onto the pitch, I can perform," the midfielder said.

"I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing. I don’t want to take it too personal if I’m not playing. I just want to come on and give my best for this club and I always have done.

"I want to keep helping the team as much as I can and long may that continue."
