Federico Dimarco insists Inter must get the right ‘approach’ against Atletico Madrid and warns Serie A form ‘counts for nothing in the Champions League.’

It kicks off at the Wanda Metropolitano at 20.00 GMT.

The first leg ended 1-0 for the Nerazzurri thanks to a goal from Marko Arnautovic, but the Austrian is injured along with Carlos Augusto, Stefano Sensi and Juan Cuadrado.

“We expect a difficult match, just as the first leg was,” Dimarco told Amazon Prime Video Italia.

“It will be a game full of duels and tackles, with the fans really pushing them on. We must make sure we don’t get the wrong initial approach.

“We have to use our mentality, the one we have had since the start of this season. We’ve got to play the way we know how and try to win the game.”

Inter have won all 13 competitive matches played in 2024 so far and are 16 points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

“What we have done in Serie A counts for nothing in the Champions League, because every fixture is tough.”
