Argentine legend Diego Maradona said that the AFA is currently ‘a disaster.’
Maradona arrived in Argentina to spend a few days on vacation, where he took advantage of going on TV and insulting current AFA president Chiqui Tapia through the Infama Recargado program.
“You have to build a house with a strong foundation, and today, one of the biggest houses in football is a disaster,” said Maradona. “I’m not talking about the coach, I’m talking about the leaders who know what they’re doing. You can not go looking for Tapia in Ezeiza, you must look at the corrupt people who are next to him. I do not care about names,” added Maradona.
In addition, the famous number 10 dedicated a few words to Javier Zanetti, who has offered to work with the AFA after their poor World Cup showing.
Maradona was not impressed with the gesture. “He always offers to do everything. They need an Inter President and he’s there first. A fitness coach is needed and he’s there. You need a player and he’s on the bench.”
Zanetti won 143 caps for Argentina, a record that stood until Javier Mascherano broke it at this year’s World Cup.
