Diego Forlan says Antoine Griezmann is the key player for France | OneFootball

Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe former Uruguay striker Diego Forlan said that Antoine Griezmann is the key to France’s success at the 2022 World Cup.

As a fellow attacking player, Forlan appreciates the way in which “he perfectly links together the midfield and attackers” in the deeper position that he is playing in the tournament alongside Adrien Rabiot. He then goes on to say that “he is the key player for France” and “even if people didn’t really appreciate him before, he is on the way to having a really good World Cup”. Forlan then repeats himself again: “Griezmann IS the fundamental key player to this France team”.

Griezmann’s performances at the international stage is something that France followers have got used to – but at this World Cup the Atletico Madrid man has provided more  created more chances than any other France player with 11, according to OPTA. Indeed, he is also the only player to create 10+ chances in either his last two World Cup tournaments for France, while he’s already surpassed his total from 2018 when they lifted the trophy (10).
