France boss Didier Deschamps has backed Zinedine Zidane to manage the national team in the future.

Deschamps, who admitted this week that he’d like to lead the team to the 2022 World Cup, told reporters that it seems ‘obvious’ that Zidane will eventually coach the world champions.

“At some point Zinedine Zidane will have a role to play,” Deschamps, who played with Zidane during their international careers, insisted.

“I do not know when. It could have been earlier, maybe it will come later.

“It seems obvious for him, as you could have once said about me, that he’ll be here.

“But right now I don’t think that’s on his mind, nor mine!”

Zidane only returned to Real Madrid last week, while Deschamps has clearly signalled his intentions to stay for the next few years.

Still, this is clearly one to look out for in the future!
