Six clubs – Leeds United, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Burnley, Brighton and Southampton – are said to be interested the 23-year-old, who could leave if the Terriers are not promoted and is believed to have a £12 million release clause in his contract.

But would he be a good signing for Wolves? And would he fit in Bruno Lage’s system?

Our FLW writers share their thoughts…

O’Brien is a player that’s destined for a future in the Premier League.

He impresses every time you watch him play for Huddersfield, setting the tempo for them in position and also working tirelessly without the ball; a trait that Premier League clubs will absolutely love.

One other thing that always strikes me about O’Brien is how tactically versatile he is, which is something that Wolves in particular could chip into.

We know O’Brien is comfortable in central midfield, whether that’s as a No.6, No.8 or even a No.10.

However, he’s played wide on the left-wing at times this season, whilst there was a point earlier in the campaign where he moved to left-back.

Given Wolves’ 3-4-3/3-5-2 system, there are a number of different roles he could play under Lage.

For me, the quality O’Brien has and his ability to always do what’s asked of him means he’d be a good fit for most of the sides linked.

Wolves included.

Lewis O’Brien has been brilliant for Huddersfield this season and it’s no surprise that Premier League sides are interested in enquiring his services.

At Huddersfield, he runs the midfield as he sets their pace and commands the side and therefore you can see that he would be a good fit for Wolves.

At just 23-years-old too, he is young enough to still develop his game and learn to adapt in the way that his manager requires him to.

Having played at the top end of the Championship this season, he could handle the step up to the Premier League and it’s the next step in his career to take that step and establish himself.

Lewis O’Brien has proven to be a level above at times this season, with his performances over the last couple of seasons warranting the Premier League interest he has continued to accumulate.

Technically speaking, he certainly meets the demands of England’s top-flight, whilst his relentlessness and energy makes him an exciting option for Premier League outfits.

He also plays with an excellent level of maturity and confidence and has been an instrumental figure in Huddersfield’s campaign, where they have defied the odds thus far.

Looking at O’Brien and whether he would fit the system at Wolves, yes he would.

Meeting the technical demands needed to operate within Lage’s side, he also has the tactical knowledge and intelligence needed to thrive with Wolves.

With rumours surrounding Ruben Neves’ future continuing to circulate, O’Brien is certainly someone who could come in and fill that potential void somewhat.
