Speaking to the media after making his debut for Germany against France, on loan VfB Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav has expressed his desire to stay at the club.
When asked about making his loan move from Brighton permanent, Undav said: “The faster this is possible, the happier I would be, but it is a slow process. I can’t decide this alone, because there are also other parties you have to talk to. “Let’s see what happens. I try not to put any pressure on myself and am relaxed. If it’s fast, it’s fast and if it takes longer, that’s just the way it is. You can only hope that it will work out the way you want.”
Undav’s loan move from Stuttgart reportedly has a clause to make the move permanent that is said to be worth €13-15m. However, with VfB looking like they will secure Champions League football next season, the relative cost of Undav may not be as expensive as first thought.
Obviously, if Undav’s strike partner Sehrou Guirassy leaves Stuttgart in the summer then it will be easy to finance a move for the 27-year-old.
During his time at Stuttgart, Undav has played himself into the German national team due to his great club form. In 25 games for Die Schwaben, the 27-year-old has 15 goals and six assists and forced head coach Sebastian Hoeneß to switch from a one-striker formation to a two-man one as he could not afford to bench either of his strikers.
