Los Blancos have a reputation for signing some of the best Brazilian talent around and it was no surprise to see them linked with Pepê. Real Madrid chief scout Juni Calafat was reportedly sold in on the Grêmio star. He was the one who convinced Florentino Perez to sign the Brazilian trio of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Reiner Jesus.

After weeks of negotiations with Grêmio, it appears that Porto might have beaten a host of other sides to sign Pepê.

However, the latest report has now revealed that Porto have won the race to sign the highly-rated forward. French outlet L’Équipe report that Grêmio will join the Portuguese giants next summer after both sides agreed a deal.

As per the report, the 23-year-old cost Porto a €15 million transfer fee and would also become the 4th most expensive signing in the club’s history. To go with, Tricolor would also be entitled to a 12.5% stake should Porto go on to sell the player in the future.

Pepê has impressed for Grêmio so far this season with eight goals and seven assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.

Over the years, Porto has become a popular destination for Brazilian forwards in Europe, with Hulk being the major highlight in that regard. After the move goes through, Pepê will become the 122nd Brazilian to have played for the Portuguese giants.
