Kevin De Bruyne, Lionel Messi and Neymar lead the way as the most prolific assisters of 2022.

The three world class stars ended the 2021/22 football season in fine fettle but have begun the current season with even more bounce.

De Bruyne has been the beneficiary of his club signing Erling Haaland.

The freak of nature who looks set to smash every Premier League goal record in existence this season as he sits with 14 goals in eight appearances.

Many feared the partnership that Haaland and De Bruyne would form, and their worst fears have been confirmed based upon the start of this season.

The Belgian currently sits on eight assists in the league and, like his teammate, looks set to break the English top-flight's existing record currently shared by himself and Thierry Henry (20).

Meanwhile, Messi and Neymar have been setting the world alight for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentine, who struggled to perform to his usually magnificent standards for much of his debut season in Paris, is well and truly on the up once again.

Already this season he's bagged seven assists in just nine league matches.

Whilst Neymar can match his teammates' tally having played an identical number of games.

The three stars have been performing to extraordinary levels and so it's no surprise they're right up there in the rankings for assists this calendar year - but which other stars have impressed?
