Leeds United exited the Carabao Cup in Round Two, after a penalty shoot-out defeat away at Sheffield Wednesday.
Jayden Bogle came off the bench to score the equaliser at Hillsborough and the Whites had late chances, but the full-time whistle meant the 90 minutes ended level and sent the tie to penalties.
Speaking to the media after the match, Daniel Farke gave his thoughts on the game.
“Of course, the result hurts,” the manager began.
“Yes, we have to take all the criticism, and we are also self-critical because out of the chances, you normally should put four or five goals in, no doubt.
“You feel a bit embarrassed as a Premier League side, but we have been involved in so many games at this level, especially in the Cup.
“There are so many surprises and shock results, and even the team who is perhaps playing in the lower league can win such a game.
“So, yes, today was one of those days, and for that, congratulations to Sheffield Wednesday.
“We feel a bit embarrassed that we don't go through in such a game, so we just can say sorry [to the fans].
“They made also the trip and wanted to celebrate, and of course, we would have wished to give them the better outcome and also the next round.”
