Dani Olmo reveals what positions he is ready to play in under Barcelona boss Flick | OneFootball

New Barcelona signing Dani Olmo has this week provided an insight into his readiness to adapt to whatever role is asked of him in the club’s XI this coming season.

The subject of Olmo’s expected position in the XI of Barca boss Hansi Flick has of course long proven a leading talking point amongst those of a Blaugrana persuasion.

This comes amid debate regarding whether he is most likely to be utilised out wide, or in a more central role.

With the Euro 2024 winner having been brought in after Barcelona’s efforts to land Nico Williams fell through, it was quickly suggested that Olmo would act as the Athletic Club star’s ‘replacement’, on the left wing.

The midfield spearhead berth in Hansi Flick’s 4-2-3-1 setup, however, looks almost tailor-made for the 26-year-old.

Speaking to the media this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of as much was put to none other than Olmo himself.

And the Spanish international, in his response, went on to assure that he is ready to take to the pitch in any role requested of him by new manager Flick:

“Can I play on the wing? Yes, of course. I’ve played in Germany on the left, on the right. I’ll play wherever the coach needs me.”
