Czech Republic international Jakub Jankto has become the latest footballer to come out as homosexual.
Jankto joins current Blackpool youth striker Jake Daniels and Adelaide United star Josh Cavallo as one of the game’s few openly gay players.
Jankto has enjoyed a fruitful career so far, playing in three different countries for five clubs.
Jankto released a short video via his official Twitter account on Monday where he proclaimed: “I want to live my life in freedom without fears, prejudice or violence.
“I am homosexual, and I no longer want to hide myself.”
The 27-year-old joined Udinese’s youth side back in 2014 from Sparta Prague and made his senior debut at year later for the Zebrette.
After a loan spell at Ascoli, Jankto joined Sampdoria in 2018 and quickly established himself as one of the first names on their team sheet.
He played nearly 80 times for the Bluerchiati but joined Getafe in July 2021.
The box-to-box midfielder is currently on loan back in Czech Republic, where he re-joined his boyhood club Sparta.
Jankto has played 45 times for his country, scoring four goals.
