Yaya Toure was one of those players that you could watch play all day and enjoy it, even if you were a rival fan, well, that is as long as he wasn’t doing it against your team at the time at least!
One of the world’s greatest and certainly the Premier League’s greatest; the way he used to just glide past players with ease and had such quick and light feet for his physical stature really did set him apart from any other player.
But could Chelsea have their very own version? Well, today isn’t the first time I have heard and seen comparisons between Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Toure – he has a similar build and is also quick and light on his feet and has the ability to glide past players with ease using his strength to bounce off opponents.
Rio Ferdinand thinks Loftus-Cheek should be like Toure, and he feels that as the games go by he is starting to develop into him more and more.
“Loftus-Cheek should be like Yaya Toure,” Ferdinand said as cited by The Metro. “I’ve seen him play in defence this season and he looked super comfortable. The manager is starting to trust him and you’re starting to see a player now.
“I think Loftus-Cheek is somebody who they need to find a defined role for him now in this team and let him go say go on go and do you stuff.
“Now grow into (that role) make some demands of him I want more goals, I want more assists. Loftus-Cheek a top-tier player.”
