Roy Hodgson has been reappointed Crystal Palace manager until the end of this season.
The oldest manager in Premier League history, Hodgson was in charge of Palace from 2017-2021, before Patrick Vieira arrived as his replacement.
Vieira was sacked last week after 21 months in charge and Hodgson, who briefly took over at Watford last season as they were relegated, returns to Selhurst Park.
“It is a privilege to be asked to return to the club, which has always meant so much to me, and to be given the important task of turning the team’s fortunes around,” Hodgson said.
“Our sole objective now is to start winning matches, and to get the points necessary to ensure our Premier League status.
“Crystal Palace is known for its fighting spirit, and I have no doubt that all our supporters will fight with us, beginning with the visit of Leicester City a week Saturday.”
The former England head coach’s former assistant Ray Lewington also returns to the Eagles.
Hodgson takes on his 22nd permanent managerial job with Palace sitting just three points away from the Premier League’s relegation zone having not won any of their last 12 Premier League games.
