Journalist Tom Barclay has been impressed by Marc Guehi since he joined Crystal Palace.

The defender signed from Chelsea for £18m in July, and has taken little time in settling into life at Selhurst Park.

How has Guehi performed at Palace?

Prior to this season, Guehi had never played in the Premier League before, but he seems to have adapted to the top-flight quickly.

The 21-year-old has played every minute of Palace's first seven league fixtures, establishing himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet under Patrick Vieira.

As per WhoScored, he has made 22 clearances and blocked four shots - these statistics rank him inside the top two in both categories at Palace.

What has Barclay said about Guehi?

Barclay admires Guehi's skillset, and has hailed the youngster for being a well-rounded centre-back at such a young age.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT about the former Chelsea and Swansea defender, he said: “As for Guehi, he’s solid at the back, really vocal, well-liked by his teammates, good organiser, strong header of the ball, good positional play. Shown a good start to his Palace career, and he’s only 21.”

How good can Guehi be?

Guehi has already made a positive first impression in south London, and it seems that there is much more to come from him given that he is still in his early twenties.

He has been handed responsibility at a tender age, as he is now captain of England Under-21s. It is not overly-surprising that Barclay describes him as being "really vocal" as he seems to have taken his leadership role at international level in his stride, and is now using that in club football.

When did Southgate make his Palace debut?

The 6 foot centre-back appears to have all the qualities that you would want at the heart of your defence, and he is now building a partnership with Joachim Andersen at Palace.

Both players only arrived at the club in the summer, so they are still getting used to each other's games, but there have already been positive signs as the pair have kept two clean sheets in the seven top-flight matches they have played together this season.

Playing alongside a former Champions League semi-finalist, Guehi is only likely to improve across the course of the season, and then he may be ready to become a key player at Palace, and potentially even push for international recognition at senior level.
