With promotion in the balance for Leeds United heading into the final week of the campaign, there will be question marks regarding the futures of some of their star men, including Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto.

Two players who have been particularly impressive since the turn of the year have been Leeds' two young wide stars, and their future is likely to lie away from Elland Road should the Whites fail to gain promotion, be that via the automatic promotion places or the play-offs.

Gnonto was linked to a host of clubs, both in the Premier League and abroad in the summer, which is also now true of Summerville after a stunning second tier campaign, where he collected the Championship's Player of the Year award in the process.

After breaking into the team more consistently in 2024, due to an injury to Dan James, Gnonto has contributed to nine goals (eight goals, one assist) in his last 16 outings in all competitions, having been involved in just two in the 24 games prior, largely in cameos off the bench. Meanwhile, alongside Georginio Rutter, Summerville is the key forward for Daniel Farke. He has scored 20 goals and created a further 10 this season from 45 games in all competitions from the left-wing.

Leeds face the reality of losing both without securing a place in the top-flight, whilst Jaidon Anthony is only on loan from AFC Bournemouth, and has made little impact, in part due to the good form of the aforementioned duo.

The pair have bags of potential and extremely high ceilings, should they continue on the current trajectory they are on in terms of their development, meaning the Whites may wish to put whatever cash raised from their sales into other young winger replacements.

Leeds should make a move for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

A fairly inexperienced but similarly exciting option could be the Crystal Palace winger, who is a player that attracted plenty of interest from Championship clubs in the previous summer after an incredible season on loan with Charlton Athletic last year in League One. It seemed to be a two-horse race, as both Leicester City and Ipswich Town were named as possible destinations for Rak-Sakyi.

However, he remained at Palace, and had perhaps expected to have more involvement this season, after the 21-year-old scored 15 goals and claimed a further nine assists in all competitions for the Addicks last campaign and dazzled with his speed and directness, as well as showcasing his two-footed ability on the right flank.

He has played eight times in all competitions for the Eagles so far this season but with only two starts in the EFL Cup, meaning a loan or even a permanent exit may be the best thing for his development this summer, unless Palace change their stance on him by then.

Leeds would be an excellent home for him on their right flank, helping to replace a player like Gnonto and providing them with a high-quality player in need of regular first-team football next season, in order to kick on in his development after somewhat of a wasted year on the sidelines.

He has spent most of the year on the treatment table with a hamstring issue, but would benefit hugely from a Championship move, should Palace send him out temporarily again, or choose to cash-in. Even when not injured, the winger seldom featured, and was a largely peripheral figure from the bench.

Rak-Sakyi returned to Palace's bench for the first time on Saturday in the draw with Fulham, but remained an unused substitute at Craven Cottage.

It was still a big positive for him, having not been involved in a matchday squad since October. However, he still faces stiff competition to play much of a role in the final games, and his future could lie away from Selhurst Park this summer.

A fresh start with Leeds is an obvious move for both clubs involved, as well as the player himself, even if Palace themselves could be set to lose the likes of Ebere Eze and Michael Olise.
