Crystal Palace are in talks over a deal for Real Betis defender Chadi Riad.

Betis are thought to want over £10million for the 20-year-old, who joined them on loan from Barcelona at the start of this season.

As part of that deal, Betis had the option to make the move permanent for around £2.5m and they have done so.

The club are now planning to sell Riad on, with reports in Spain saying Barcelona are due 50 per cent of any fee Betis receive.

The centre-back has enjoyed an excellent season in La Liga and was rewarded with his debut for Morocco earlier this year.

Riad’s arrival will cast doubt over the future of Marc Guehi at Palace, though, given the interest in the centre-back.

He has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer and Riad’s arrival would soften his departure.

Palace are also braced for interest in star attackers Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, but manager Oliver Glasner is determined to keep them.

“I’m very confident,” said Glasner. “They have contracts and they’re here. Nobody has told me that they will leave. We all did what we can do as Crystal Palace.

“We showed them we have ambition, how we want to play, what pathway we want to go and which journey we want to ride together.

“They can all play a crucial part in it, show their qualities and strengths. They can express themselves, and it fits together.

“This is what we can do. If something else happens, it’s part of football.”
