The Frenchman has touched down in London to complete his move
Jaydee Canvot will undergo his Crystal Palace medical on Sunday as the Eagles face Aston Villa in the late kick-off.
The 19-year-old centre-back is joining Palace from Toulouse for an initial fee of around £16million, with add-ons meaning the fee could reach £23.3m.
Sources have told Standard Sport that he arrived in London on Friday evening and is set for a medical on Sunday.
There is no chance of the defender playing at Villa Park, of course, with the deal yet to be finalised until his medical is completed and the final contract is signed. French media report a five-year contract has been proposed.
Canvot is capped by France at Under-20 level and was also of interest to Villa earlier this summer.
Palace have tracked Canvot for a long time, and his arrival comes as Liverpool attempt to sign Marc Guehi. The Eagles captain is out of contract next summer and will not sign a new one.
That is in spite of head coach Oliver Glasner’s insistence that it is too late in the window to replace such an important player as Guehi.
“I think it is not possible at the moment to find a Marc Guehi replacement who can play in the Premier League, being a starter for Crystal Palace, being consistent,” he told reporters.
“Getting the right replacement in now, I think, is almost impossible. He shows in every game that he is focused, and again I think if Marc had said ‘I want to leave Crystal Palace’ then it would have happened weeks ago.”
Palace remain in the market for players ahead of the transfer deadline at 7pm on Monday.
