Real Madrid are preparing for an action-packed summer transfer window which will see them bring in a number of stars, while also shuffling their side in terms of departures.

Kylian Mbappe will likely be the first player to join, on a free transfer no less, while Alphonso Davies and Leny Yoro are also strongly linked to the team and could follow in the Frenchman’s footsteps.

While Madrid prepare for transfers in the background, they will also have to deal with the several players whose contracts are expiring in the summer.

Toni Kroos was the priority renewal, and it seems he is finally ready to put pen to paper, while Nacho and Lucaz Vazquez are also expected to end up extending their deals.

One player who may not, though, is the legendary Luka Modric. But even at 37, the Croatian is no short of suitors, with his boyhood club Dinamo Zagreb pushing to sign him.

They have, in fact, taken their pursuit up a notch, sending a public transfer request to the Madrid midfielder.

‘It makes all the sense in the world’

In an attempt to convince Modric, Dinamo Zagreb have paid to advertise a public transfer request in Madrid-based outlet MARCA, with a huge page dedicated to the legendary midfielder.

It features a no. 10 Zagreb jersey with Modric’s name and a hashtag that says #TieneTodoElSentidoDelMundo, translating to ‘It makes all the sense in the world’.

Zagreb are fighting with Saudi Arabian and MLS teams who are ready to offer Modric a massive salary and all the luxury in the world. They are hoping that the Croatian can look at the romantic side of things.

What will Modric do?

After 12 years at Madrid, winning five Champions League along the way, it does make all the sense in the world for Modric to return to his boyhood club, especially if he is unhappy with his role in the Spanish capital.

Madrid are considering renewing his contract, but the final decision will be left to Modric, who wants to play more regularly.

This season his place in the starting lineup has been taken by one of Aurelien Tchouameni or Eduardo Camavinga more often than not, with Jude Bellingham also a new addition.
