Cristiano Ronaldo has pretty much done it all in world football – but who is the greatest XI for him to have ever played with?
The Portuguese footballing phenomenon has a hell of a trophy cabinet. He’s won Champions Leagues, Premier Leagues, La Ligas and even the EUROs – but he’s certainly had some help with some brilliant teammates along the way.
During his time at Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, and Juventus – he’s played with some of the best players the 21st century has had to offer. But who makes the list as the best he’s played with?
With this – we present to you the greatest XI that Cristiano Ronaldo has played with during his career.
Between the sticks is Iker Casillas, who is one of the greatest goalkeepers to ever exist. He was a constant presence between the Madrid sticks and deserves to hold down the keeper spot.
Although as his career has progressed he no longer resides at RB, we’re sneaking Sergio Ramos anyway thanks to his time spent there in his youth.
An absolute rock at the back. Nemanja Vidic was an unbelievable centre-half who had a strict no-nonsense attitude. He was influential in the amount United won back in the day.
Vidic’s ever-reliable partner – Rio Ferdinand. The two complimented each other perfectly and are definitely in Cristiano’s all-time XI.
Marcelo was simply a joy to watch. A full-back that helped revolutionise the position in modern-day football, he could attack and defend, making it look effortless along the way.
Paul Scholes is the first midfielder to make the cut. He was one of the few players to make passing look effortless and is regarded as one of the greatest English midfielders of all time.
Let’s throw in another player that makes passing look like child play – Toni Kroos. The German was immense after signing from Bayern Munich for Madrid and remains at the club even today.
It would be rude not to include the only other player who has won the Ballon d’Or winner besides Lionel Messi and Ronaldo himself in the past 13 years – the Croatian maestro Luka Modric.
Next up – a player that was heavily disrespected during the time he played with Ronaldo, Gareth Bale. Despite his critics, his goal record in Madrid is immense and his undeniable talent alone earns him the RW spot in this team.
A potential future Ballon d’Or winner? Karim Benzema has been immense since Ronaldo’s departure but also was criminally underrated when he was there. He’s now cemented himself as one of the best, if not the best, striker in world football.
A debatable position change – but Wayne Rooney simply has to be included. Manchester United’s and England’s top goalscorer rounds off the greatest ever XI to play with Cristiano Ronaldo.
