It really was Ronaldo mania around Old Trafford on Saturday.

Hundreds of thousands of supporters were seen wearing the new ‘Ronaldo 7’ shirt, while the atmosphere was at fever pitch.

That atmosphere was cranked up a few notches when Ronaldo was named in the starting line-up against Newcastle.

If you doubted he’d get himself on the scoresheet, you clearly haven’t been watching football for the last 18 years.

Ronaldo opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time before putting United 2-1 ahead in the second half. He couldn’t complete his hat-trick but he’d have been very happy with his contribution to his side’s 4-1 victory on his second debut.

However, despite being a new signing, Ronaldo got out of doing an initiation that involves singing a song because he did it back in 2003 when he signed for the first time.

Instead, Ronaldo did give a speech to his new teammates on Friday night before the match.

When did Cristiano Ronaldo make his debut for Manchester United?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to reveal what Ronaldo said.

"When anyone comes into the team they have to introduce themselves,” the United boss said.

"Maybe not everyone knew Cristiano's name - but they do now. He said his name was Cristiano and that’s as much as I can say."

What did Ronaldo say?

Well, a report in The Sun has now revealed every word Ronaldo said in an inspirational speech on the eve of his second debut.

He demanded the players show their love for the club in order to bring back the glory days.

“He told his team-mates: ‘I have returned to Man United for two reasons,'” a source told The Sun.

“The first is because I love the club. The second is I love the winning mentality that breeds through the ranks of this club.

“I have not come back to be a cheerleader. If you guys want to succeed, then I need you to love this club from the bottom of your hearts.

“You need to eat, sleep and fight for this club. Whether you play or do not play, you need to support your teammates and always give 100 per cent for the club.

“I am here to win and nothing else. Winning brings us happiness. I want to be happy, do you?’

"You are all amazing players and I believe in you, or else I would have not returned.

“The fans will support you, if you give your best. I just want to create a winning mentality, so when I do retire one day, the winning mentality will remain, and this group of players will dominate football, like we did in the past.

“I will do my best for the team but I need your support too. Are you ready to fight? Are you ready to leave everything on the pitch?”

After the speech, the players reportedly gave him a round of applause.

If that doesn’t inspire you, nothing will.

In fact, it's reportedly already had an impact because The Athletic are reporting Paul Pogba is considering staying at the club after Ronaldo's arrival.

It's not just his incredible goalscoring record that could lead United to glory this season but also with his influence off the pitch.

We've already seen what an incredible leader he is throughout his career - most notably when he got injured in the Euro 2016 final between France and Portugal. Ronaldo became his nation's assistant manager as he barked instructions and inspired his teammates to the trophy.
