São Paulo’s preparations for the second half of the season are gathering pace amid managerial developments, fitness updates, and fresh transfer speculation, according to Arquibancada Tricolor.
The club confirmed on Monday that Hernán Crespo’s registration has been finalized with the CBF, clearing the way for his return to the São Paulo touchline. Crespo, who previously guided São Paulo to a state title, will be in charge for the upcoming clash against Flamengo. His official appointment comes after Luis Zubeldía’s exit, reinstating the Argentine to a familiar role at a pivotal juncture in the season.
On the training ground, the attacking options look set for a boost. Both Lucas Moura and Ferreirinha have resumed group training after successfully progressing in their recoveries. Having dealt with a knee issue and a plantar fascia concern, respectively, the duo’s integration back into the squad increases São Paulo’s depth heading into a crucial run of matches. The technical and medical staff plan to closely monitor their status through the week to gauge their match readiness.
Meanwhile, some doubts persist regarding Lucas Ferreira, who has been experiencing muscle discomfort and will undergo further evaluation. His condition could rule him out of immediate contention depending on the results of upcoming tests.
Transfer talk has re-emerged as São Paulo reportedly initiated inquiries for right-backs currently playing for prominent rivals in the Argentine league. While no names have been made public, Argentinian journalists have suggested that São Paulo are actively monitoring potential reinforcements in a bid to address defensive options after recent departures.
The squad’s composition continues to evolve, with João Moreira—previously on loan—returning to Porto B, and former right-back Igor Vinícius beginning a new chapter at Santos after officially parting ways with São Paulo. Vinícius described his departure as the “end of a cycle,” expressing gratitude for his years at the club and excitement over a fresh start elsewhere.
The club’s shifting landscape, both on and off the pitch, illustrates the sense of transition at Morumbi. With new faces arriving on the coaching team, key players returning from injury, and active recruitment underway, São Paulo heads into its next fixtures intent on climbing the table and solidifying a new era under Crespo’s leadership.
