Alan Hutton believes Coventry City star Callum O'Hare could be a good fit for Leeds United if he makes the move to Elland Road, speaking to Football Insider.

The Whites are likely to be limited in the amount they can spend this summer, with the club needing to balance the books following their failure to win promotion back to the Premier League at the end of last term.

Even if they cash in on the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto this summer, Daniel Farke may not have a sizeable budget at his disposal and he may need to make full use of the free agent and loan markets in the coming months.

Even without key players potentially departing, signings will need to be made, with Jaidon Anthony, Connor Roberts and Joe Rodon all returning to their parent clubs following the end of their loan stays in West Yorkshire.

O'Hare, who is available on a free transfer with the player yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at Coventry, has been linked with a move to Elland Road.

This is a blow for Mark Robins' side, who will be keen to keep one of their best players at the Coventry Building Society Arena beyond the end of this month after seeing him thrive in front of goal last season.

But O'Hare looks more and more likely to leave with the player yet to sign a new contract - and that's a boost for Leeds, who may be keen to lure him to West Yorkshire.

Alan Hutton on Callum O'Hare's potential move to Leeds United

Hutton believes O'Hare could be a good replacement for some key players who could depart Elland Road this summer, including Summerville.

He told Football Insider: "He fits the bill that Leeds like, he’s an exciting player.

"Especially if they’re going to lose somebody like Summerville or Rutter who could possibly be leaving this summer as well. They’re going to need to bring somebody in to replace these guys.

"I know Callum O’Hare well, I’ve played alongside him when I was at Villa. He’s very technically gifted, he’s got an eye for a pass and he can score goals, and he’s still at a good age and he’s got experience at this level.

"I think that is something Leeds are definitely looking at and he suits them well."

Callum O'Hare could be a good addition at Leeds United

O'Hare can be a good option to have on the wing and in a central advanced midfield role, making him a good asset to have in a 4-2-3-1 system.

In terms of the club's wing options, they are limited with Jack Harrison set to re-join Everton and Anthony returning to AFC Bournemouth.

O'Hare can be a real threat out wide with his trickery and ability to get past players.

But he can be even more effective centrally, which could be useful considering they don't have a huge number of options there.

Georginio Rutter and Joel Piroe can both operate in a central advanced midfield role, but the latter has played as a striker more recently.
