Kasey Palmer heaped praise on Coventry City teammate Viktor Gyokeres as he joked the striker is better than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The topic of the greatest of all time has been in the spotlight since Messi inspired his Argentina side to win the World Cup, with many recognising the PSG forward as the best ever.

And, whilst Palmer ranks the left-footer above his rival Ronaldo, he took to Twitter to put Gyokeres above the pair.

1. Viktor Gyokeres 2. Messi 3. Ronaldo. Debate Over.”

The Swedish international has been outstanding for the Sky Blues once again this season and he netted his 11th league goal of the campaign by scoring a stoppage time penalty as Mark Robins’ men beat West Brom 1-0 on Wednesday night.

That has lifted Coventry up to eighth in the table and they will feel that a top six finish is a real possibility, with Gyokeres key to those chances.

But, they could face a battle to keep hold of the 24-year-old, as he has been linked with a host of clubs ahead of the window opening in the New Year.

Can you remember how much Coventry City paid for these 22 summer signings?

The verdict

Palmer probably echoes the thoughts of all Coventry City fans as Gyokeres is a firm favourite and he displayed a real composure to score the winner against Albion with that late penalty.

He has shown over the past 18 months that he is one of the top players outside the Premier League and all connected to Coventry will know he’s destined to play at a higher level.

So, it’s about enjoying the striker while they can and if they do keep him beyond the January window then a top six finish has to be a real possibility.
