Manchester City clashed heads with Aston Villa at the Etihad earlier this afternoon, hoping to pick up a positive result and win their sixth Premier League title since 2012. Matty Cash opened the scoring in the 37th minute of the game as he headed Lucas Digne’s cross past Ederson Moraes to put his side in the lead. Philippe Coutinho doubled the visitors’ lead with a precise finish from the edge of City’s box. Everything seemed to be under control for Steven Gerrard’s men, but the Citizens summoned up three quick goals in under six minutes to clinch the title in a heroic fashion.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player fared during the clash against the Citizens.

Robin Olsen 5

The Swedish shot-stopper was the most nervous figure on the pitch for the first thirty minutes or so. He made a few fumbles here and there but seemed to be in control of the situation at all times. However, those six minutes struck like a clap of thunder.

Lucas Digne 6

The former Everton left-back got himself the assist for Matty Cash’s goal. He could have positioned himself better to prevent Raheem Sterling from delivering the cross that led to City’s first goal.

Tyrone Mings 6

The England international did a solid job at the back for the majority of the game but failed to contain the attacking threats towards the end.

Calum Chambers 7

Some top-notch defending from the former Arsenal man. He did everything within his reach to support the defence in the hour of need.

Matty Cash 6.5

Cash scored the first goal of the game to put his team in the lead. He did well to support his team’s outnumbered midfield on several occasions, but a lot better was expected on the defensive front.

John McGinn 5

The Scottish international did relatively well to protect the backline over the course of the game.

Jacob Ramsey 5

The 20-year-old played some decent passes, but that’s all he had to offer.

Philippe Coutinho 7

Coutinho sold dreams to the Liverpool fans when he doubled Villa’s lead with an excellent finish in the 69th minute. However, things came crashing down after he was taken off.

Emiliano Buendia 5

The Argentine playmaker was mostly limited to defensive duties in his own half of the pitch. Nonetheless, he struggled to hold on to the ball under pressure.

Ollie Watkins 6

Watkins chased every ball that reached the top half of the pitch and even went close to scoring before the half-time mark.

Substitutes

Marvelous Nakamba

He added fresh legs to Villa’s midfield.
