Coupe de France: PSG ease past Brest to reach quarters

Kylian Mbappé scores as Les Parisiens ran out as 3-1 winners at the Parc des Princes over Stade Brestois in the Coupe de France to secure a place in the competition's quarterfinals.

Stade Brestois returned to the Parc des Princes to face Paris Saint-Germain for the second time in two weeks, and the surprise Champions League contenders certainly proved a stern test for Luis Enrique's men. Les Parisiens saw the return of key men Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi to ensure their progression to the quarter final stage of the Coupe de France.

The Breton side began the game in a much brighter fashion than their hosts, initially almost opening the scoring via a long range effort from Satriano, before Donnarumma was on hand to parry away Magnetti's half-volley on the rebound. Yet, it would be none other than Kylian Mbappé who opened the scoring for PSG, with a low strike from a tight angle after being aided by Warren Zaïre-Emery (34').

The Parc des Princes faithful were treated to a second only several minutes later, this time through a rather surprising source - Danilo Pereira with a finish by the near post after some great work by Dembélé in the build-up to open up play (37').

The second half would see Brest once again push the home side in the same way that saw them come away with a point last month, and it looked possible they could stage a comeback after Steve Mounié headed Les Pirates back into the game (65'). Yet for Eric Roy's side the task looked immeasurably harder after Lilian Brassier was sent off for a second yellow card for a foul on Kylian Mbappé. With the match settling into it's final stage, PSG would go onto carve out a third goal through Gonçalo Ramos. The Portuguese international slotted in a much-needed goal into an open net after a neatly-played combination between Mbappé, Vitinha, and Hakimi (90'+2).

Luis Enrique's men will now look to playing Lille at the weekend in Ligue 1 on Sunday, whilst Brest will go on the road once again in a trip to Clermont.
