Adrien Rabiot (28) looks set to miss out on Didier Deschamps’ squad for the March international break, which leaves the door open to a potential return for Lazio’s Mattéo Guendouzi (24).
Rabiot remains a mainstay in the France squad, however, the Juventus midfielder suffered a foot injury in late February, and according to L’Équipe, it is looking increasingly likely that he will miss out on the France squad, which will be announced by Deschamps later this week.
His absence leaves a space to be filled in Les Bleus’ midfield. With Boubacar Kamara also injured, there is a chance for either Jordan Veretout or Guendouzi. The former is on a good run of form with Olympique de Marseille, but he has not featured for Les Bleus since November 2022; Guendouzi, who has seven caps for France, has not featured for the national team since November 2022 either, however, he has revived his career since his summer move to Lazio.
However, either Veretout or Guendouzi could be set for a recall ahead of this month’s matches against Germany and Chile, according to L’Équipe.
