Costa Rica’s pre-FIFA World Cup friendly against Iraq has been cancelled to a passport problem.

Ole have reported that Costa Rica have been left without preparation ahead of the World Cup as they have not been able to play a friendly before the tournament starts.

Costa Rica were supposed to play at the Basra Sport City stadium against Iraq in the last friendly before the World Cup in Qatar, which will begin on Sunday but an inconvenience in relation to the stamping of passports when Latin Americans entered the Asian country caused the decision to be made to suspend the game.

The Iraqis did not respect a previous agreement around stamping the passports of the entire visiting delegation upon their arrival in the country. This could cause future problems for Iraq, as Costa Rica then flew to Kuwait and had to take the decision to cancel the friendly.
