While it now seems certain that Stefano Pioli will leave AC Milan at the end of the season, the leadership must find an agreement with him and his staff to terminate his deal early.

Today’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) recalls that the Rossoneri coach still has one year left on his contract, which runs until 30 June 2025, and that means that they will have to sack him should they look to move on.

THe paper estimates that Pioli and his staff – between salaries and taxes – would cost the club around €10m in order to terminate their contracts early. Finding an agreement on severance pay may therefore not be easy.

Meanwhile, Pioli continues to be linked with the Napoli job. Speaking yesterday at a press conference on the eve of the match against Genoa, Pioli declared: “Do I like pizza? I like cappelletti in broth, I’m from Parma. As long as I have a contract with Milan, I won’t talk to anyone else.”

If he were to become the Napoli boss or get another job then it would mean Milan no longer need to keep paying him, so the management might just be hoping that he isn’t out of work for long.
