Corinthians have offered new insight into Yuri Alberto’s rehabilitation following the striker’s recent spinal injury. The club’s medical team disclosed that Alberto is recovering from a bone fracture to the right transverse process of the L1 vertebra, an injury he sustained after the match against Atlético-MG on May 24.
Initially, medical staff suspected a lower back muscle strain, but persistent pain led Alberto to undergo further exams at Mater Dei Hospital in Belo Horizonte. Imaging then revealed the extent of the fracture. Since then, he has been closely monitored by the club’s health department.
Alberto is currently undergoing treatment using the Recovery device by HTM Eletrônica, a high-intensity electromagnetic field therapy unit. “It’s really helping with Yuri’s treatment, especially for pain management and to speed up the healing process,” explained club physiotherapist Bruno Gorgatte in an interview with Corinthians TV. “This is high-tech equipment assisting us in his recovery.”
No official timeframe for Alberto’s return has been outlined, but indications from within the club suggest that he will likely only be available following club football’s pause for the FIFA Club World Cup. Until then, he continues his course of therapy under daily supervision from the medical team.
The centre-forward’s absence has been notable. So far this season, Alberto has featured 35 times for Corinthians, contributing 13 goals and one assist. His presence was consistent prior to this setback, making his absence even more challenging as the team navigates domestic and continental commitments.
The club’s medical department will continue to assess Alberto’s progress, with further updates expected only as his rehabilitation advances toward completion.
