On Wednesday, Corinthians took on Chapecoense in a rematch of their Copa do Brasil fourth-round matchup, which resulted with Timão advancing after a 2-1 aggregate victory following a 2-0 second-leg win.
Corinthians would bring the heat in the second round of the Brasileirão and, with a 55th-minute goal from Carlos Augusto, defeated Chape 1-0 to overcome their poor start to the season.
In the opening match of the season, Corinthians fell 3-2 away at Bahia four days following the dramatic Copa do Brasil triumph.
Corinthians was relaxed and controlled most of the match and allowed Cássio to earn a simple one-save clean sheet. Each team is now on three points.
Timão will now travel to Rio to face Vasco on Saturday, while Chapecoense will look to rebound against Athletico Paranaense.
