The Conti Cup quarter-finals is underway Wednesday evening. Here is what went down around the grounds.
Scorers: Hasegawa 34′
Manchester City eased past Tottenham to book their place in the Conti Cup semi-final.
A lone-goal from midfielder Yui Hasegawa was all City needed as Spurs struggled to carve out any meaningful opportunities and pull themselves level in the match.
With 10 minutes to go, the Londoners had yet to get a shot on target.
Scorers: Nüsken 28′, 44′, Beever-Jones 46′, Kirby 83′, 90+1′
Chelsea cruised past Sunderland in the Conti Cup quarter-final.
It was smooth sailing for the Blues from the off, and they were already out of touch by the 46 minute mark after a Sjoeke Nüsken first-half brace and a Aggie Beever-Jones strike in the first minute of the second-half.
Two more goals from Fran Kirby in the dying minutes was the icing on the cake for the hosts.
Scorers: Sarri 35′ ; Hanson 69′
The hosts took the lead late in the first-half thanks to Veatriki Sarri from the wing, but Villa eventually found their way back into the tie.
While it took until the final 20 minutes, Kirsty Hanson pulled one back for the visitors to reclaim parity and send the game to extra-time.
After a scoreless extra-time period, Villa booked their qualification in a dramatic penalty shootout after Brighton missed all four of their attempts.
