Transfer News: Inter Milan keen on Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso

According to transfer news from Mirror, Inter Milan have shown an interest in Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso. Antonio Conte is keen on a reunion with his former Chelsea player to replace Ashley Young.

Alonso was among some of the names under Frank Lampard who had been frozen out of the squad. Before Tuchel took over, Alonso had only played in the West Brom game much early in the season. They had fallen out and Lampard did not call upon his services since.

However, right in Thomas Tuchel’s first game, Alonso was restored not only to the starting XI but also to the wing-back role he flourishes in. Since then, he has featured for the side but not on a consistent basis due to Ben Chilwell’s adjustment to the new role.

Now, it has been reported that the Spanish wingback is wanted by former boss Antonio Conte at Inter Milan. Conte wants a replacement for the possible departure of Ashley Young and sees his former charge as the perfect man to do so. Alonso will supposedly be put for sale and Inter are likely to follow up on that.

Alonso enjoyed two fruitful years under Conte at Chelsea after which he has largely been on the periphery. With Chilwell flourishing at the club, there is a good chance that Alonso continues to struggle for game time. A possible deal might just benefit all the parties involved.
