Conor Gallagher set to go from sidelines to starter after Kante injury

Conor Gallagher is set to get a chance to start for Chelsea in the games to come, following N’Golo Kante’s hamstring injury picked up late in the game against Tottenham yesterday.

We still don’t have confirmation of how bad the injury is, but a few weeks out looks like the bare minimum at the moment.

It’s quite the swing from how things looked at kick off yesterday. After two games sat on the bench, Gallagher must have been loooking at Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic and thinking about his exit strategy.

Instead, with Kovacic still out, Gallagher is set to be catapulted to centre stage. He’s not the perfect Kante replacement, as his game isn’t the same, but he has the energy to fill in, and with a bit of coaching from Thomas Tuchel he should do just fine.

It’s painful to lose Kante, but we’re excited for Conor to get his chance.
