Ipswich Town have slightly dropped off the mark in their bid to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League in recent weeks - but that hasn't stopped a number of their stars rightly earning the plaudits so far this season.

Kieran McKenna's side started the campaign on fire, taking 13 wins from their first 15 games and leaving fans across the league stunned at what could've been a second promotion in as many years after coming up from League One last season.

They've endured quite a seismic drop-off since December with just one win in eight games, though that perhaps was expected with the likes of Leeds and Southampton battling them for that elusive second spot.

Whilst the Whites and Saints both have Premier League level players across their squads and with the Tractor Boys now fourth, they still boast some top talents in their ranks - with one of those being Conor Chaplin. Football League World takes you through his future, weekly wage and contract situation at Portman Road.

Whilst Chaplin continues to be a star performer in Suffolk, there has yet to be any rumours of interest in his services from clubs up and down the country.

That could all change at the end of the season but with Ipswich firing on all cylinders in the race for automatic promotion, there is little need for the midfielder to embark on a move elsewhere with life in Ipswich currently treating him extremely well.

The Portsmouth youth academy product has yet to feature in the Premier League and he'll be hoping to do so come the end of the season but with Ipswich paying their faith in his talents, there is no reason for fans to become wary of such a prospect just yet.

Conor Chaplin's weekly wage

According to Capology, the website estimates that Chaplin is earning a weekly wage of £7,500 in East Anglia; enough to earn him £390,000 per year.

Having signed a new three-year deal back in June last year, it means that Chaplin is on course to earn over £1.1million from the club before his contract runs out.

That’s not as much as some of his teammates, according to the website. George Edmundson, Leif Davis, George Hirst and Sam Morsy all earn more, whilst loan signings Kieffer Moore, Jeremy Sarmiento and Brandon Williams are all on more money at their parent clubs.

As aforementioned, Chaplin's contract doesn't run out until the summer of 2026; meaning that Ipswich don't quite have anything to worry about for the time being.

Should they win promotion to the Premier League then it's likely that Chaplin would extend his deal; but Ipswich may have reason to worry next summer if they fail to achieve promotion this time around and don't come close next season.

If Chaplin continues to perform how he has done this campaign for the next 18 months, having only one year left on his deal could tempt clubs either with more promotion chances or a Premier League team to make a move for his services; and at the age of 26, he may want to realise his ambitions of a top-flight move should that be made available to him.

Of course, if Ipswich do get promoted then the power will be in their hands - and Chaplin could at least be aiming to see how this season goes before any potential move even enters his mind.
