Milan coach Sergio Conceiçao reiterates that club directors do ‘their best’ for the team and reveals Arrigo Sacchi didn’t reply to his text message: ‘He criticises me every day.’

The Portuguese boss addressed the media at a press conference on the eve of a Serie A match against Lecce.

“We need to focus on what we can control; those outside are free to judge. Someone was even my coach. Sacchi, two months ago, said I was a great coach; today, he criticises me every day. He had great champions and won. I even sent him a message, and he didn’t reply. We live in the moment, there’s great respect, people can say what they want.”

Sacchi has recently been highly critical of Milan after seeing the Rossoneri lose three consecutive matches.

“I’ve made mistakes, just like every coach does,” continued Conceiçao.

“In terms of principles and team dynamics, I have my own personal characteristics and in everything I do; I do with the best intentions. Throughout my journey, there have been more satisfaction than negative moments. Off the pitch, my staff and I have our own dynamics, and respect between them, the coaching staff, the people working here, and the players is essential. These are the same things I tell my children.

“On the pitch, this was the first full week of training I’ve had available. I try to make as few mistakes as possible. An experience like this, even in difficult times, helps you grow.”

Conceiçao also spoke about the chaos created by his former spokesperson, saying that he acted “out of spite” by claiming that he was unhappy at Milan.
