Brighton midfielder Alexis Max Allister has strongly been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer – but how does he compare to the midfielders in Erik ten Hag’s squad?
Mac Allister’s stock has risen considerably over the last 12 months. He played a starring role in Argentina’s World Cup triumph in Qatar during the mid-season break and has looked just as influential for Roberto De Zerbi’s high-flying Brighton.
The 24-year-old, who can fulfil a variety of midfield roles, remains contracted at the Amex until 2025 but it’s expected that he’ll move to a new club this summer – and Manchester United have been explicitly cited as a potential destination.
“Understand Alexis Mac Allister and his camp consider summer move as 100 per cent guaranteed. The expectation is for an early transfer,” tweeted transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
“Alexis will give his best for Brighton until June. Liverpool and Man United will discuss with player side soon.”
Meanwhile, the midfielder’s father, formerly of Boca Juniors, recently corroborated those reports.
“Normally, the next transfer window will find him playing for another club,” Carlos Mac Allister told Argentinian outlet Puro Boca.
“We don’t know which one, the talks are just beginning in general, but it is most likely that Alexis will be playing for another team in July.”
We’ve taken a look at Mac Allister’s Premier League statistics for Brighton in the 2022-23 season so far and how they stack up against the corresponding output of Manchester United’s current midfielders – Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay. We’ve not included Bayern Munich loanee Marcel Sabitzer or Donny van de Beek due to a lack of minutes.
