Reigning MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew have extended the contract of head coach Wilfried Nancy this week.

The former CF Montreal boss led the Crew to their third MLS Cup title in his first season in charge and tied a club record with 57 points in the regular season to boot.

“In addition to winning MLS Cup last year, we are excited to extend Wilfried’s contract because of the culture he has helped create within the club, including our shared commitment to developing individuals both as players and as people,” said general manager Tim Bezbatchenko.

“Wilfried has delivered in every way, and then some, with his leadership and devotion to entertaining soccer.”

The Crew are on the trail of history once again as they look to become just the second ever MLS club win the CONCACAF Champions Cup in the coming weeks, squaring off with Monterrey in a two-legged semi-final.
