Spain and Colombia met in London, while Scotland travelled to the Netherlands in the pick of the international friendlies tonight.
Scorers: MuĂąoz 61â˛
Unsurprisingly, Spain dominated possession in the opening half but had very little in the way of goalscoring chances â which has been a theme of some of their recent tournament outings.
It was an extremely physical 45 minutes, with a foul coming almost every 30 seconds as the Colombians looked to grind down La Roja.
The game got the goal it needed just after the hour and it came from a combination between two Premier League players on a Premier League ground.
Liverpoolâs Luis DĂaz did brilliantly to get past two Spanish defenders before putting a left-footed cross into the box. Crystal Palace right-back Daniel MuĂąoz met the ball at the back post with a brilliant strike that flew past Ălex Remiro to give Colombia the lead and send their thousands of fans into a frenzy.
Remiro was only 16 minutes into his international career after replacing David Raya at the break when he picked the ball out of his net.
Another debut came with seven minutes remaining as 17-year-old Barcelona defender Pau CubarsĂ came on for Aymeric Laporte for what will surely be the first of many caps.
Spain could not find an equaliser but Luis de la Fuente did not seem too fussed, particularly as he left Rodri on the bench for the full 90 minutes and was trying things ahead of the European Championships.
For the Colombians, it was a famous night as they themselves prepare for the Copa AmĂŠrica.
Scorers: Reijnders 40â˛, Wijnaldum 72â˛, Weghorst 84â˛, Malen 86â˛
While possession was even in the opening stages of the game, Scotland had the better of the early chances.
The Dutch had goalkeeper Mark Flekken to thank for keeping things level when he brilliantly tipped Ryan Christieâs header onto the bar in the 17th minute.
Cody Gakpo should have been booked just after the half hour mark when he dived in an effort to win a penalty. Scott McTominay didnât come close to him but the referee seemed to miss the obvious nature of the fall.
Five minutes before the break, Tijani Reijnders broke the deadlock with a stunning strike. Cody Gakpo slipped the ball to the Milan midfielder, who gave Angus Gunn no chance from just outside the box. It was his first goal for his country.
It felt harsh on Steve Clarkeâs side but it showed what can happen when you donât take advantage when on top.
The second half was much of the same with the Scots putting the pressure on but failing with their final ball, while Gakpo had the best effort for the home side.
Lawrence Shankland missed Scotlandâs best chance on the hour, hitting the bar when one on one with Flekken. The chance came after more excellent pressing but the Hearts striker just had to score.
The Netherlands made them pay again shortly after. Gakpo again got the assist, this time clipping a ball in for Gini Wijnaldum to smartly head home.
Amazingly, the game ended 4-0 with substitutes Wout Weghorst and Donyell Malen getting in on the act. The former Manchester United striker headed home from a corner while the Dortmund man coolly finished after good work inside the box.
Despite some positives in the game, Scotland have now conceded 18 goals in their last six games, leaving Clarke with questions ahead of Tuesdayâs game with Northern Ireland.
