The ongoing contract saga circulating Trent Alexander-Arnold is one that all Liverpool fans are hoping is resolved as soon as possible.
The Reds have enjoyed a strong start to the new campaign under new boss Arne Slot, but a grey cloud continues to linger above Anfield, with uncertainty ever growing on the futures of some of their biggest stars.
Alexander-Arnold, alongside Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, has entered the final year of his current Liverpool contract.
Come January, the 25-year-old will be allowed to speak to foreign clubs regarding a free transfer next summer, with pressure building on Chief Executive Michael Edwards and Sporting Director Richard Hughes to find a solution.
Alexander-Arnold's most likely destination if he is to depart Anfield would be European Champions Real Madrid, where he would join close friend Jude Bellingham, who Trent has reportedly already quizzed on life in Madrid.
However with doubt still looming in the air over the defender's future, reports of another illustrious deal involving Alexander-Arnold surfaced in recent days.
L'Equipe reported that the Scouser has been edging closer to completing a €140m deal with French side FC Nantes, to become part of the club's ownership.
The outlet understands that Michael Arnold, Trent’s father, who manages his son’s interests through a London-based investment firm, has an interest in the French sports market.
Nantes are owned by Waldemar Kita, with tension increasingly high between him and the fans. Kita reportedly held a video conference with the English group, and also had a meeting with their legal representative. A verbal offer worth €80m upfront, €20m later, and a potential further €40m in bonuses was proposed.
In light of these reports, Kita has now publically denied the possibility of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander Arnold buying the club but has jokingly invited him to come and play for the French side.
"Is it true? It's all bullsh*t! Where's this coming from? Trent Alexander-Arnold? I don't even know who that is! I just talked to my lawyer and asked him, 'Who the hell is this guy?' He told me his dad's in finance and they've got some players and other agents. I've never had a video call with anyone. Never in my life. It's complete rubbish. This isn't serious," Kita confirmed.
