Our side made sure of things in front of 4,100 fans - with a commanding and clinical performance taking us to a 4-0 victory.
We set the tone from the word go, albeit things were quiet enough in the opening. Our boys bossed the ball with 84 percent possession, and the big chances soon started to come thick and fast. Lustenau could only head the ball slightly away and Amankwah Forson chipped it back into the danger area. Roko Simic raced to meet it, losing his marker and putting our side into the lead (21')!
Gerhard Struber's side, which featured four changes to the XI that started the win in the UNIQA ÖFB Cup in midweek, were only getting started. Forson promptly set up another goal - with the in-form Ghanaian sending the ball to Oumar Solet at the far post, who turned his header straight into the top corner (25').
Amar Dedic & Co were playing brilliant football as they sliced apart the league's basement club. Terzic tried to switch the ball over to Dedic, and Grujcic ending up setting it free for Konate to slam in (39'). Further opportunities went unused with Simic scoring from an offside position (30'), Lustenau goalkeeper Schierl denying Konate, and Terzic tonking over.
Our Red Bulls were in no mood to let up in the second period. Oscar Gloukh sailed past two men in green before taking aim from the edge of the area and putting us into a 4-0 (58')! The hosts were a little more active after the restart but could rarely lay a glove on us.
We had further opportunities – with Schierl stopping Konate, substitute Ratkov hitting over and Konate almost managing to convert in a one-on-one, but the hosts now combined their way into our final third. Baden Frederiksen missed a chance to grab a consolation on the turn.
Sucic and Konate both had late chances, but our boys took a superb 4-0 away win. A good way to ready ourselves for our UEFA Champions League clash against Real Sociedad on Tuesday!
There was a lot we tried to do - for one thing, trying to play simple long balls behind their defensive live and trying to dominate the opponents with our tempo. The opponents found nothing to challenge us with, and that took us to a win in the end, also by this comprehensive margin. It was a very professional and efficient performance over 90 minutes!
Gerhard Struber
It was great to help the team. It is good for our confidence with a Champions League match ahead. Our last league match wasn't so special - which makes it even better that we won today. I hope that we can give our fans lots of joy on Tuesday too!
