City have started well in our hunt for a record fifth successive Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola's side are one of only two teams in the division with a 100% record, claiming three wins from three so far.

Alongside us are regular title challengers Liverpool, who are this season managed by Arne Slot after an incredible era that saw Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp go toe-to-toe.

While it's still very early days, Guardiola will be pleased with how his team have begun the chase for a record extending fifth title having become the first team ever to win four-in-a-row last time around.

So far, we have defeated Chelsea, Ipswich Town and West Ham United.

With the first international break of the season meaning there's no top flight football this weekend, it's a good chance to take stock of our season so far.

We'll also add in the challenges of both the Champions League and Carabao Cup in the coming weeks, before the players return to their national sides next month.

Here we'll take a look at the numbers behind our Premier League start...

Goals scored

Our nine goals so far is the most of any side in the division, with Chelsea and Liverpool both netting seven.

Two came in our first game against Enzo Maresca's Chelsea, before four against newly promoted Ipswich and then a further three against West Ham.

Of course, Erling Haaland has scored seven of those with the Norwegian looking fit and firing in the first weeks.

He is by far the league's leading marksman at this stage as he seeks a third successive Golden Boot.

Four players are currently on three goals, but Haaland's two hat-tricks and an extra finish at Stamford Bridge have him clear of the competition for now.

Our No.9 now has eight Premier League hat-tricks in total in just 69 games in the division. Only three men, including Sergio Aguero, have ever scored more than that in the Premier League era.

Goals conceded

We have let in just two goals so far in the Premier League - one against West Ham and one against Ipswich.

That places us joint-third for best defence so far, with Liverpool yet to concede and Arsenal letting in just one.

Brighton have also let in two goals on their way to seven points from three matches.

That means Ederson has one clean sheet so far as he chases a fourth Golden Glove and his first since 2021/22.

Possession

As expected, City are the pass masters so far this season. We have topped this metric every campaign since Guardiola's arrival, with last season's tally reaching 26,251.

We have played 2,016 passes in total in our three games, with Russell Martin's Southampton next on 1,926.

Our 4-1 defeat of Ipswich was the most pass heavy game so far, with City completing 700 on the afternoon.

With Rodrigo, our usual metronomic presence in midfield and the leader in passing numbers, not featuring so far, it's a new name currently at the top of this chart.

Manuel Akanji's 299 passes is the most in the division, with Ruben Dias third on 268.

The next City player to feature is Kevin De Bruyne, who has already played 234 passes despite this statistic often favouring players further back on the pitch.

Shots

In total, City have 48 shots so far - producing nine goals.

That is the joint-second most in the division, with Nottingham Forest top on 53.

However, with a league-leading xG of 7.1, it's clear that we are shooting at the right times in order to have the best possible chance of scoring.

Despite being the league's best team over six of the last seven seasons, the last time we topped this metric was in 2019/20.

As for shots on our goal, Ederson has only been forced into five saves so far and with two goals conceded is matching the xG.

Discipline

Only three teams have been shown a yellow card fewer times than us over the first three games, with Guardiola's team picking up five cautions at this stage.

10 sides have received eight yellow cards, while three teams have also had a man sent off.
